- Start with 3-5 Repetitions
Start with 3-5 repetitions on each exercise in the first stages. Focus on good form and quality rather than doing too many repetitions. Once you feel at ease, you can increase repetitions and intensity.
- Provide Sufficient Rest
Since plyometric training is of high intensity, you should provide your own body with sufficient rest time in between. Try to wait at least 48 hours before returning to your session to enable your muscles to fully rest. Resting helps you not get any injuries and be prepared for the next session.
- Gradually increase intensity

The only way is to show up to level up. We can do this by taking accountability for ourselves because it is something that is for us. Maybe just doing 1 rep or 1 set is enough, but we have to consistently show up to achieve our goals.
5 Fundamental Plyometric Exercises
The five core jump training exercises listed below are used to increase your power of explosion and athleticism:
- Squat Pop
Start with your feet wider than your hips. Do a squat and clap your arms together. Jump forward to come together to meet your feet, then jump directly back into the squat.
- Split squat jump
Start in the lunge position with 90 degrees on both legs. Pushing off the ground, explode up, jump, change legs in flight, and gently fall into the other lunge position.
- Alternating Jumping Lunge
Stand with shoulder-width feet and jump forward onto one foot into a lunge. Drop into the lunge, then rebound back to the beginning. Repeat on the other side with each repetition.
- Reverse lunge to knee-up jump.
Start in a standing position. Step back into a lunge position, and then explosively jump up, driving your knee into your chest. Land lightly and repeat the exercise.
- Tuck Jump
Stand with feet on the ground, standing width apart, then slightly squat. Explosively jump, tucking the knees up towards the chest, then again squatting almost as soon as you’ve landed on your feet.
